Life Map is a self-assessment tool for processing and understanding your past. All beliefs that you have in the present (both effective and ineffective) were formed in the past.
Objective:
- to record and analyze the highlights and lowlights of your life
- to process the lowlights and let them go
- to analyze the highlights and build better mental projections and decisions for the future
Example:
Take a look at this example and you will understand how to complete this exercise.
It’s pretty straightforward.
Step 1: Mapping
- Record your birth on the left-side of the paper.
- Draw a continuous line of your life from the moment of your birth to today mapping the high points with peaks and low points with valleys.
- Label each highlight/lowlight with a descriptor.
- To make it easier to think you can create a list of your key milestones.
Think about the following questions:
- What are the significant milestones in your life to date?
- What are the most pivotal moments in your life?
- What things have you done that you are proud of?
- What were you interested as a child? What were your passions in your childhood?
- What were the most impactful moments?
