Some people tell me that I talk too much about philosophy and psychology behind job hunting.

But for me philosophy and psychology are everything.

Some thoughts propel us to action whereas some thoughts keep us where we are today.

There is something I tell my life coaching clients about change, something so simple yet crucial to understand.

Change happens when the desire to change becomes bigger than the desire to remain the same.

The same thing remains true for the job search.

You start to get massive results once you adopt a mindset that sets you in motion.

Sometimes it means getting rid of your limiting beliefs.

Sometimes it means introducing significant changes in your self-identity.

And this is where I want to start. Let's talk about the concept of core identity.

About Core Identity

If you have ever traveled by ship you might have experienced seasickness. It's not exactly the most pleasant feeling in the world.

Seasoned sea wolves have a special trick to stop seasickness from happening.

Here is the trick.

If the weather and the environment allow, you must choose an immovable object on the horizon, and focus on it.

If you remain concentrated on the focal point after some time you will start noticing that dizziness disappears. But it will return once you lose your focus.

This example brings me to what I want to share with you about the core identity.

You cannot draw your core identity from a job title, role, or social status.

Why?

You cannot draw your identity from something that is not transfixed.
